2019 Cybersecurity AwarenessIn 2003, the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance launched National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM). This is a collaborative effort to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to help Americans stay safe and more secure online. NCSAM is held every October and each year they promote a theme and key messages throughout the campaign.

The 2019 NCSAM “will emphasize personal accountability and stress the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity at home and in the workplace. This year’s overarching message – Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT. – will focus on key areas including citizen privacy, consumer devices, and e-commerce security.”1 The National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS) has done a wonderful job creating a Toolkit to help promote the importance of cybersecurity awareness for you and your organization. Within this toolkit you will find information about this year’s theme Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT., tips to share during NCSAM, cybersecurity resources, and a sample communications calendar.

At Teslar Software, we could not be more on board with this initiative and its importance! We’re 👏 Here 👏 For 👏 It 👏! That’s why throughout the month of October we will have guest blog authors from within Teslar Software. They will be covering various topics related to NCSAM and how it relates to the banking community, so stay tuned for those exciting articles.

You can find some great guides and resources on the NICCS page that house all the information about NCSAM. These modules are focused on this year’s theme, Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT. and break down areas of technology within our home, phones, social media, e-commerce and traveling tips. You can also find a really fun Trivia Game that you can play at home with your family or with your co-workers within your organization.

We will leave you with a few cyber statistics:2
